Jan 03 2010 Re:Solution ~ Pastor Ken

Perhaps you start every year having some issues in your life that could use some... could we say... addressing.  Have you tried resolving them in your own resolve? Do New Year's resolutions actually solve the problems?  Or maybe you are one of the millions around the globe that no longer even try to make resolutions because they have not worked.  95% of people do not follow through with the "re"solutions by the end of the first month every single year.

In this sermon given at Brentview on January 3, 2010, Ken Castor encourages you to quit trying to fix yourself again and again every year. Instead, try a new approach... a New Year's solution approach based on the way God created you.

Hub - Greet Well - Ken Castor

Slide1 Waaaassssuuuuuuupppp!!  How we greet each other says a lot about how we view others.  In the New Testament, the way that Paul, Peter, and John greet people in their letters reveals an incredible attitude of blessing.  Focusing on how to GREET WELL is a good way to start the year, to focus our hearts, and to encourage others.  For the first talk of the calendar year, I thought it would be good to consider the right way to say "hello".

May the grace and peace of God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ be yours.

-Ken

Celebrate (Oct 25, 2009) from Ben Schuiling on Vimeo.  Ken Castor explores why Jesus chose to change water into wine as the first miracle to perform in front of his disciples.

Perhaps not my most orthodox message, but certainly not any less meaningful.  Jesus enjoys celebrating.  Why else would he choose as his first public miracle to turn 180 gallons of water into 180 gallons of wine?!  And if this is so, why is the word "fun" hardly ever associated with Christians today?!

It's certainly not the way I would have done it.  The first six guys that promote Jesus and the beginning of his worldwide international eternal movement are not the ones I would have chosen.  What was he thinking?!  Here's the audio of my hub message from the second half of John 1.

Hub-word-gif

Had another great night at hub tonight.  Great day in fact.  We had almost 100 join us for a chili lunch earlier, then more than that come out for hub this evening.  Really enjoying the vibrancy and sincere desire to grow closer to God that exists in this group right now.  Praying we can "keep er lit".

Hope you will be encouraged by the talk from this evening.  It's the 2nd part to our series, "The Day the Word Became Flesh."

Hub-word-gif We kicked off the Fall 2009 edition of *hub last night.  Our numbers have grown so we gathered in Brentview Baptist's sanctuary.  But the dim lights and pillows on the pew benches set a great mood.  So many people stepped up.  I'm estimating that we had 40 people playing intentionally key roles in shaping the evening.  And I'm getting asked, so I'll say, we had 129 join us, and most of those are connecting with us through small groups and specific service opportunities.  That's quite a few more than the 12 or so we averaged at the beginning 3 years ago!  It was a great night.  I'm so grateful to God.  He's behind shaping *hub into a growing network of people residing with Christ.

If you're interested, here's my message from last night- an introduction to our series for the Fall: The Day the Word Became Flesh!!
